In My Mailbox 1 + End of August RAK

Hi everyone! So I received a book via RAK this month, and sent out a total of 17 to two different people.

So here's what I sent out:

To Shanyn @ ChickLovesLit I gave two of my favorite ever YA romantic comedies:

And from her I received:

THANK YOU, SHANYN!

I also sent out a bunch of books to Harpreet Singh over at A Spark of Interest - Books for Teens. I was just cleaning out my bookshelves to make room for new romance and thought I'd give-away a few of my old but good YA books. So here's what I sent her:

So all in all it was a pretty great RAK this month! Moving on to my FIRST In-My-Mailbox, done by video! Just click the play button and enjoy my In-My-Mailbox (and library bag and Kindle) for August!

August 2011: Random Acts of Kindness

Random Acts of Kindness is a really great way to give and receive books that've been on your wishlist for a while! It's pretty exciting. Here's how it works:

Everyone 'uploads' their wishlist to a monthly directory. Fellow RAK participants can view your wishlist and either send to you or purchase FOR you one or more of the books on your wishlist - out of the kindness of their heart. This is a pass it forward kind of thing. I think this is a great, great, GREAT idea!

RULES (taken directly from Book Soulmates):
  • Sign up each month that you'd like to participate.

  • Show off your participation by grabbing our RAK button :)
  • Create a wish list (on Amazon, Goodreads, or your blog etc) and post it in the Google Doc located in each R.A.K post for the month.
  • If you choose to do a R.A.K for someone, check out their wish list and contact that blogger for their address.
  • At the end of the month, SHOW US YOUR R.A.K! Make a post saying 'Thank You' to whoever granted one of your wishes and share it with us :)

OPEN TO EVERYONE!
Let's keep our International bloggers in mind and in our hearts.
Remember, there's always the Book Depository and they offer FREE shipping!

GIVEAWAY: Also, this month the RAK is hosting a giveaway for all participants (and honestly, why wouldn't you participate?)  The winner will receive a 20$ Amazon Gift Card to feed their reading habit. :) Here are the simple rules from Book Soulmate's blog (link HERE):
Simple Giveaway Rules:
  • The giveaway is open to participants ONLY.
  • Please post about RAK and the giveaway info on your blog and paste link in the same google doc that you use to sign up for RAK
    OR
  • If you don't have a blog, you can still be entered by tweeting about it or Facebooking it and TAG US
  • {If you don't have the link by the time you sign up for the RAK itself, then please email me and I'll add it}
    That's it :)
IMPORTANT: If you do not wish to sign up for the giveaway then please leave a comment in the comments section of the google doc.
So get into the RAK mood everyone, and enter this awesome giveaway too! Also, don't forget to check out my 'Historic Giveaway' of Anna Campbell books to 2 lucky winners!!! Closes August 3rd, 2011!

Each month I'm going to buy one book (or in this case, two. I just couldn't help myself!) for someone else on the RAK list. Unfortunately, I don't own that many books (they're all on my Kindle) so I can't simply send books out. Instead I'll be buying them. This month I chose to send the books Puppy Love by Nancy Krulik and Cupidity by Caroline Goode to one lucky RAK participant! ;) Those books are part of a YA romantic comedy series that count as the first even slightly romantic books I ever read. Looking at where that love of romance took me, I'm so glad that series fostered such a love of love in me and I hope it does the same for this RAK girl. I know it will bring a smile to my face (much less hers) to think of her reading them on her Kindle. I hope she likes them!

Join the fun! Bring smiles, laughter and LOVE LOVE LOVE to people everywhere with a Random Act of Kindess! I'll be posting at the end of the month to let you know if I received any RAK books!

It better be good! ;)
